Where did your money go this month?

A monthly total is only useful when nothing is missing. Make the month complete first, then read it from the total down to the merchants.

1. Make the month complete

A summary is only as good as the payments in it. Import the month’s slips, add cash payments by hand, and open anything marked Needs review.

If a total looks low, check for a missing slip or cash payment first. See how to track your income and expenses for a routine that keeps the month complete.

2. Start with the total

Home shows what you have spent this month so far, a bar for each day and your recent entries. Open an entry to check it or change its category.

Summary shows the same total next to the same days last month. Its Month so far view puts your spending next to what you usually spend by the same day, so a month that is not over yet is not compared with a full one.

3. See which categories it went to

Summary splits the month by category or by merchant. Each row shows the amount and how it changed.

A made-up month

Category Spent Share
Rent and home ฿7,500 38%
Food and drinks ฿5,400 27%
Groceries ฿2,600 13%
Transport ฿1,800 9%
Bills and utilities ฿1,450 7%
Shopping ฿1,200 6%
Total ฿19,950 100%

Rent stays the same each month, so the place to look is food and drinks: more than a quarter of the month.

4. Find the merchants you return to

Switch Summary to Merchants to see the shops and people you paid most. Small, regular payments add up: coffee at ฿65 on 20 working days is ฿1,300 a month.

A person’s name on a slip may not tell you what you bought. Choose the category yourself, and the app can remember your choice.

5. Compare with past months

History shows your spending month by month, so you can see whether this month is higher or lower than usual. Compare it with the month before, the quarter before or the year before.

Compare full months. A month that has not ended yet looks lower than it really is.

6. Set a number to aim for

Once you have a full month recorded, set a monthly spending guide. Slip Tracker shows whether you are on track. It never stops a payment.

Base the amount on a month you have recorded, not on a guess.

7. Common questions

Why is my total lower than my bank statement?

The total counts only what is saved in Slip Tracker. Look for slips you have not imported and cash you have not added.

How do I find one payment later?

Use Search to look up saved transactions by name.
