What happens to your data when Slip Tracker reads a slip

1. Choosing slips
You can pick slips from your photos yourself. The app then sees only the photos you pick.
Or you can allow photo access, and the app finds slips for you in today's photos or on dates you choose. It looks each time you open the app, shows what it found, and saves nothing until you choose slips and read them.
The app never uses the camera. You can change photo access any time in your phone's settings.
2. Reading a slip
The app reads each slip on your phone. On Android, it uses Google's ML Kit, a text and QR code reader built into the app. It reads the English writing and the QR code. It can't read Thai writing yet, so you check and fix the parts written in Thai.
The slip's picture and the words read from it are not sent to Google or to us.
To sort your spending, the app matches the shop name with a list of over 1,000 Thai shops, also built into the app. Nothing is looked up online.
3. What the app keeps
When you save a slip, the app keeps these details on your phone, encrypted:
- the amount, the fee, and the date and time
- who paid and who got paid, and their banks
- the account numbers, with most digits hidden, as on the slip
- the reference number
- the category and the shop, and any note you add
It also keeps a private copy of each slip picture you save, so you can compare it with the details. The copy is deleted with its transaction, and backup files leave it out.
It doesn't keep the words it read from a slip. Instead it keeps a short code made from each slip, so a slip you already added is skipped next time.
4. What can leave your phone
Slip Tracker has no server, so your slips and transactions never reach us. A few things do leave your phone:
- Buying Premium. Google Play takes the payment. Each time you open the app, RevenueCat, a service for app purchases, checks whether Premium is on. It gets your purchase details and a random ID, never your slips or transactions. Google Play shows us each order's number and the buyer's city, region, postal code and country.
- Files you share. A backup file or an export goes only where you send it.
- Emails to support. We see what you send us.
- ML Kit reports, on Android. ML Kit sends Google reports on how it runs: phone and app details, speed, errors, and an ID for the app on this phone. They never include a slip's picture, its words or your transactions. The app has no setting to turn them off.
There are no ads, and no analytics or crash reports of our own. The Privacy Notice has the full details.
5. Backups and new phones
Android doesn't copy Slip Tracker's data to Google Drive, and your transactions don't move to a new phone by themselves. To keep a copy, open Settings, then Backup & Restore, and tap Create backup file. Then choose where to keep it.
On a new phone, install the app, open Backup & Restore, and tap Restore from a file.
A backup file has all your transactions but no slip pictures. It has no password, so keep it somewhere private.
With Premium, you can also export your transactions as CSV, Excel or PDF.
6. Deleting your data
Delete a transaction, and its slip picture goes with it.
To remove everything, choose Delete all data in Settings. It removes your transactions, slip pictures, remembered merchants, settings and app lock. It can't be undone.
Files you shared or saved, such as backups and exports, stay where you put them, so delete those yourself. Removing the app from your phone also removes its data.
7. Common questions
Does Slip Tracker need my bank login?
No. It reads the slips saved on your phone. There is no account and no bank login.
Can you see my transactions?
No. Slip Tracker has no server, so your slips and transactions never reach us.
Does reading slips work without internet?
Yes. Reading slips works offline. Buying Premium needs a connection.
What does Google get on Android?
ML Kit, the reader built into the app, sends Google reports on how it runs, with an ID for the app on this phone. They never include your slips or transactions.
